bbodance Syllabus and Exams
Exams are a core part of dance education at Thorpe Dance York, though they are not compulsory. We champion exams as positive, uplifting experiences that build confidence and create a real sense of achievement.
bbodance was founded as the British Ballet Organization in 1930 by Edouard Espinosa and Eve Kelland. It now stands as a key pillar of the dance education community in the UK and beyond, offering Ofqual-regulated awards through dance exams in multiple genres and teaching qualifications.
For dancers who achieve Grade 2 and above, bbodance offers a Scholars Programme of fortnightly classes with industry professionals to enhance the dance education they receive from their normal classes.
bbodance host multiple dance events through the year, including the extremely popular Dance Days at Elmhurst Ballet School in Birmingham for dancers aged 8 to 18.
UCAS points are awarded on completion of Grades 6, 7, 8, Intermediate, and Advanced 1 and 2 exams, in all genres.
